Comments
Comments: We started early enough and the Falling Waters trail was firm enough for microspikes. Above treeline, a mix of snow, ice, and rock. We took off spikes from Haystack to Lincoln, then put them back on to Lafayette. Coming down, the trail was still firm to the hut (it was still early). Fine for microspikes (however, by this afternoon, I imagine snowshoes will be needed). Below the hut, the trail was starting to soften up in the sun. With the temperatures on the rise this week, snowshoes will be needed! An ideal day in the higher summits - low winds and bluebird skies! Great hike with Gypsy hiker and Pemi.
