What a spectacular day to welcome in Spring! Fabulous views. Sunny, mild, light winds and still pretty good snow conditions. Firm track and even on the summit cone, you could mostly stay on snow, with just a few rock steps. A few postholes, but most on the side of the trail. We carried but did not need snowshoes, but at lower elevations, the snow was getting soft, and after another couple of warm days, it may be pretty sloppy. I think we hit it about right on the first warm day after some cold ones. Definitely suggest having snowshoes this week. There is a LOT of snow in the woods still. |
