Comments
Comments: Shoulder season has arrived for this trail; probably best to give it some time to thaw. With the nearby SLA trails closed for mud season, it's probably a good idea to avoid hiking the mountain trails in the Northern Lakes Region for awhile until either winter weather returns or else there's been adequate thawing (particularly on foot paths, which are extremely fragile right now).

About 60% of the trail is snow/ice free. However, a decent portion of that snow/ice free portion is collapsing ground frost (6+ inches deep) and boot sucking mud.

Still a foot of snow/ice pack on the northern facing traverse near the summit. Woods are otherwise patchy.

I was able to bareboot, but light traction would not have been overkill on the remaining ice. Snowshoes will be superfluous on this particular route unless we get more snow.
