Comments
Comments: 🐦 hike of Moosilauke and South Peak. Barebooted until 2700 feet at which point a consistent solid icy monorail began.Micros on until returning to this point. Upper elevations of the trails saw a light dusting of snow and very minor drifting. The Carriage Road to the summit still has spots with deep snowpack and frozen postholed drifts.. Above treeline and down Beaver Brook Trail for a bit the trail frozen water flow. The skim coat of powder made descending a little slippery but fortunately there were shallow postholes that made great footholds. It was nice chatting with the hiker between the two peaks as well as the couple in the parking lot. Great day to enjoy these Gems! Snowshoes along for the views today. Highly recommend carrying them as there is still plenty of snow up high and it's warming up.
