Comments
Comments: Plenty of mixed conditions calling for snowshoes/light traction throughout the day. The photos below are geotagged on the strava route for those looking for specific bits of info. Used snowshoes for most of the day since the snow is considerably deep and unstable. Saw plenty of new postholes that looked really deep at plenty of points throughout the day. Not much new tracks on the way up north carter, fresh snowshoe prints after finishing the climb lifted morale. The snow was really soft on the steep sections and I was happy to have brought my snowshoes with televators for the climb. I basically wore my snowshoes most of the day until I made my way down into carter notch - the postholes that looked like they went down into the several feet left of snow were reminders throughout the day to keep them on. When looking for a spot to scoop water at carter notch, I gave my boot another really nice dunk in the water - stepped right through what looked like solid snow into mid leg deep snow/water.
