Straightforward bushwhack from Rt.112. Snowshoes went on immediately after entering the forest. I followed the nameless brook that drains the NE side of the summit ridge, and made a side trip to a rock slab at 3330 ft.; there were nice views from this slab, looking out to Mt. Washington and the eastern Pemi. On the summit, the last entry in the register was from 3/21. I took the following snow depth measurements:
Three feet deep at 2470 ft. elevation (shaded NE aspect with little solar gain)
One foot deep at 3750 ft. (summit ridge)
At all elevations, snowshoes were necessary given the soft, warming snow. |
