Comments
Comments: Barebooted Airline Trail until about 3200 feet, then there is a steep stretch of thick ice, spikes worked. After that, there is a fairly stable packed trail beneath a layer of loose snow, again, spikes worked fine. Above treeline there is effectively no snow or ice. Valley Way was somewhat slow going with a mess of rotting soft snow, but nothing terrible. Spikes seemed to be the best option. Below 3000 feet or so, it cleared up and was smooth sailing. A beautiful day with the summit of both Adams and Madison to ourselves, and fine views of a undercast over the Carters and Mount Washington. Only saw two people the whole day, both while we were descending Valley Way
