| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Lime Kiln Road is freshly graded and in fine condition. There was parking for 4 or 5 vehicles in the parking area, but more available parking along the road. |
| Surface Conditions: |
Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable |
| Recommended Equipment: |
| Water Crossing Notes: |
One minor stream crossing required a single step on logs to cross, along with a rock hop. In high water, that crossing might be difficult where the trail is. Suspect it could be easily crossed by bushwhacking upstream or downstream, where the stream is narrower. |
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
A couple stepover blowdowns and one duck under for someone 6 foot 1 like me. |
| Dog-Related Notes: |
Definitely doable for most dogs. |
| Bugs: |
Saw first two black flies of 2021 at the trail head. They were not bothersome. |
| Lost and Found: |
There was a winter hat at the trailhead. |

| Comments: |
Short, but steep hike up to Black Mountain. Views were spectacular toward the west at a few viewpoints and great views south and east from the summit area. There was no snow or ice on this trail, nor was there on Blueberry Mountain, which we hiked earlier today. Trail was very dry, which made for good footing. |
