| Comments: |
First 2 miles is really pretty dry with only occasional mud that is easily avoidable. Trail conditions muddier for the third mile, with the remnants of the monorail slowly appearing and becoming more prevalent. Microspikes on about 1/2 mile before the junction with the Kinsman Ridge Trail. I carried snowshoes, but the monorail was stable and it would have been hard to use snowshoes regardless. The ledge sections of the Kinsman Ridge Trail near the summits, particularly with southern exposure, are bare and mostly free of snow and ice, but otherwise the trail is still mostly snow covered at elevation; maybe 2' to 3' of snow.
