This was a dart thrown at the map.
From the highway I walked up the gravel road past a private camp, gravel pit, quarry and water tower; there were no posted restrictions against foot travel, but I probably wouldn't walk in here while the pit is in operation. At an old dump truck I turned left onto another road which took me up to a log landing. Here, I turned right onto a snowmobile trail lined on both sides with stone walls. This took me up (turning left at a T-junction) to a point just shy of the eastern bump of what the USGS topo calls Bell Ledges. Where the snomo trail went right, I bushwhacked straight up to the summit in easy and open woods. This entire area has been heavily logged; the top was marked with an old cairn and fire ring. There are limited views right now with the leaves down.
There was snow here, but no more than 3-4 in. and it was melting fast. I was expecting, you know, ledges up here, but I didn't see any. Still, and interesting walk to an obscure hill. |
