Comments
Comments: Trail was a mix of everything today - lower section was pretty wet, mud/standing water you had to walk through to stay on trail. There was a pretty slushy section right before the split (for North or Middle Sugarloaf). We only did Middle Sugarloaf today, and barebooted the whole thing up. Snow became more significant as we got higher, but no postholing or significant icing to warrant spikes on the way up. We ended up popping our spikes on for part of the downhill, but took them off fairly quickly (snow was waterlogged and wanted to ball up). Snow was melting off the trees as well, so definitely bring a waterproof jacket to keep yourself dry. Overall, pretty average spring conditions... I’m betting the snow we got Friday will be melting pretty quickly with the warm temps coming up, so mud will be the name of the game going forward.
