Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: no issues
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: lots and lots of blowdowns as this trail is minimally used from Cabot to Waumbek. The worst was coming out of Willard Notch where the trail is the least used and the blowdowns were the most. Through most of the trail it is moss covered rocks, grown in ferns and overgrown trees.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: no dog on this hike but it wouldnt have been a problem outside of no water sources and I would have had to carry a lot for the two of us.
Bugs
Bugs: Swarms of flies, some mosquitoes, only a problem on breaks when we stopped walking.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: found a blue camel back water bottle on Starr King

Comments
Comments: Beautiful day in the Great North Woods. The scenery didnt really open up for views but the open forest covered in ferns never got old. This was a wonderful hike in July because after Mt Cabot we didnt see another soul. I hiked with the Random Group of Hikers again and we were able to do 19.8 miles ~7500 feet in 11.5 hours. There not being a lot of view opportunites made it easy to keep going. The view from the Horn was wonderful. The remoteness of this peak gives an interesting view of the presidentials. I also have been on Waumbek twice before (both times in snow) and never knew that 100 feet from the peak there is a great view of the presidentials!
