Date of Hike: Friday, June 18, 2021
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Hooray! The gate is open! Road has been graded and no trees on it from the base station road side to Caps ridge trailhead. Parking lot had a couple holes in it. About 12 vehicles were parked there when we arrived around 10 AM, plenty of space.

Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Being the first day of Jefferson Notch road being open, I expected to see some debris on the trail as the maintainer has not had a chance to get out there. There are several trees across the trail, all are passable but could use cleaning up or removing. This was one time Bog Boy left his saw behind and he regretted it. Sorry Michael!
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Only met 1, this could be rough on the paws, lots of rock being a Presidential range hike.
Bugs
Bugs: Down low there were plenty , used the bug spray several times. At the summit, there were some kind of wasps buzzing around. Be aware!
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Nothing

Comments
Comments: We were excited to have gotten word from NH DOT that the gate would be open on Friday and the weather was better than what the NWS forecasted. Low winds, but enough to keep bugs away above treeline. Plenty of the fantastic views that the Northern Presidentials give. Tom and I picked the perfect day to finish our spring season of the 48. I finished my all four seasons grid of the 48 too. Dry weather made this the perfect day to climb the caps. No issues scrambling!
