Peaks Stairs Mountain, Mt. Davis, Mt. Isolation, NH
Trails
Trails: Rocky Branch Trail, Stairs Col Trail, Stairs Mountain Spur, Davis Path, Davis Spur, Isolation Trail
Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Thursday, August 4, 2011
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Parked at very end of Jericho Rd - room for quite a few cars. I found the trailhead parking confusing b/c it seems that Jericho Rd becomes a forest service road (and is labeled as such). The trick is to keep going and going until you reach a gate and that's the (marked) trailhead for Rocky Branch.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Wet Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Mud - Significant
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: All water crossings were easy (water was low) but most areas were VERY muddy and very wet.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Most trails in VERY good shape. Davis Path had many rotting bog bridges. Rocky Branch Trail between Shelters 1 and 2 was filled with blowdowns and occasionally difficult to follow.
Dog-Related Notes

Comments
Comments: GREAT day for these peaks. I did this loop (really, a lollipop) from Rocky Branch clockwise. Drainage issues on trails near Isolation - no surprise - but nice recent brushing and trailwork on the Isolation Trail (east side)!!! My shoes were soaked after the first 5 miles.... a LONG way sloshing out!!!! Awesome to be visited ;) by Forestgnome the last 3 miles!!!! Took a dip in the Rocky Branch River near the trailhead at the end of the day - some nice pools!!!! YAY!!!!!
