Whew. Well. Today the mountains weren't the challenge, it was the extra-oppressive humidity. Probably the most humid conditions I've ever hiked in. Because of this, I turned back on the slabs on North Percy as I had hit a wall and could feel heat illness coming on, despite being well-watered and fed.
Made it to South Percy though on the way up from Nash Stream Rd. The side path is in good shape and the summit has a more recent register.
This loop was mainly dry aside from some slippery ledge and mud above the slide on PPT. Blueberries are coming along but not quite there yet.
Thanks to the fun and cool Meetup group who invited me to tag along for part of the hike. Sorry I had to bail on you at North Percy (hope you got the note I left for you at the parking area)! |
