| Water Crossing Notes: |
If you head up there in the next day or so, prepare to get your feet wet. The two crossings on Zealand up near the ponds swelled about two inches in an hour today. When I crossed them around 11:00 I was just able to keep my feet from going under if I jumped a couple of times. When I came back through an hour later I had no choice but to wade. See notes below. |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
It’s hard to say if there are drainage issues given the amount of rain. There were none last weekend, but it wasn’t raining then. See notes below. |
|
| Dog-Related Notes: |
Came upon two medium-sized dogs traveling together, at a huge flooded section of the trail. One dog had to be carried through the flooded section. The other happily ran right through it. |
|
| Bugs: |
Few mosquitos later in the day after the rain stopped. |

| Comments: |
What a difference a week makes. I decided to fish a few spots I was eyeing last weekend when my wife and I were in the area. There clearly has been a fair amount of rain up there this week. All the streams were swollen and it got worse as the day progressed (see my water crossing note above). The trail was completely flooded in several spots requiring either wading through ankle-deep water or “straddling†(if possible — a few spots were too wide). When it wasn’t flooded out, there was significant mud, slippery rocks and roots, and running water down the trail. |
