Comments
Comments: We rode bicycles down Lincoln Woods Trail, yah too bad they can't grade it to drain and remove some of the trees falling in on the edges. Saw a few others riding bicycles too. Zoomed up the trail and then locked bicycles a short distance up the Black Pond Trail. We hiked to the Pond and put our boats in right where you get the nice view of the pointy Owls Head. Water is very stagnant black and even smells rotten on the east end where the wind pushes everything. Cool views from the water ranging from Whaleback, Flume, Owlshead and Bondcliff. So hot and the breeze was off and on but mostly off. We then bushwhacked through open woods, found a glacial kettle hole and then a short steep down to the Franconia Falls Trail about 1/4 mile from the end of it. We hiked to the end and then went swimming and enjoyed watching daring youngster jump off the high ledge into the pool. Swim felt great in the cold water. Franconia Falls was busy the whole lenght of the water along the trail. We walked down the trails back to our bicycles. So nice to ride downhill past a hundred people back to the parking lot. Exit 32 pizza was awesome apres ride/paddle/hike.
