Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: The waterfalls were running high as early summer. Stream crossings weren't too bad though.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Ice Gulch has beautiful new blazes from the start to about halfway up the gulch, then you are on your own. Generally, the trails are in good shape, although brush is starting to overtake the top of the Cook Path. Boothman Spring Cutoff is a wonderfully maintained trail, but it might be closed again? It says it's closed on the road end, I might have missed a closed sign on the woods end, although the trail jct sign is still there pointing to the Crescent House site. This path has been in and out of the trail network over the last 10 years. It would be a shame to lose access to this beautiful link.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Forget about it in the Ice Gulch. Dogs would be fine everywhere else.
Bugs
Bugs: None!

Comments
Comments: A classic loop, on an otherwise dreary humid day. Wonderful times bopping through the notch. Be ready to use your upper body on this trip. Peboamauk Falls was more beautiful than usual this late in the summer. The status of the Boothman Spring cutoff needs to be clarified, as it appears to be closed yet again. Trips from just a few weeks ago show this as open.
