The water crossings on Kinsman Pond Trail, Cascade Brook Trail and Basin-Cascade Trail were challenging, but manageable after bushwhacking up and/or downstream each time. There were rocks available to step on, but I lost patience after awhile and just forded across. Heck, my feet were already wet! |

It was a beautiful day on Kinsman Ridge Trail! It was also really muddy and wet. Lots of mud. I don't really remember that much dry ground on any of the trails. There was a mini-stream going up Lonesome Lake Trail to KRT. Then tons of mud along the KRT. I turned off onto Kinsman Pond Trail, which apparently is always soaking wet, and today was no exception. There was mud on the 0.5 mile I did along Cascade Brook Trail, and along the Basin-Cascade Trail, but it was minor. Once I accepted the fact that my feet were going to get wet and muddy, I had so much fun! The trails and views were gorgeous, and I loved getting out on new-to-me trails. Met a nice guy named Jeff when I was trying to decide if I really wanted to go down Kinsman Pond Trail. He was headed that way, so we hiked together, which was helpful and nice, especially at the water crossings. Thanks, Jeff! |
