I needed Mount Coe to complete my NEHH list. We agreed to spend longer than average time enjoying summit views especially on Mount Coe where we had fairly clear sunny skies. We also took our time ascending the Coe Slide. Coe Slide is challenging, but not overly difficult. You can always find a reasonably dry grippy safe route if you take your time and watch for cairns and blazes. There were couple of spots where you take leaps of faith. Views of Doubletop across the valley from the slide are also worth stopping to enjoy.
I found the section of Mt Coe Trail between Coe and South Brother to be rough and somewhat scrambly. The spur trail to S Brother was also tricky jungle gym scramble requiring all four arms and legs to get up. We skipped N Brother as we had spend too much time relaxing on summits, and clouds were coming in anyway. |
