For various reasons, we did this hike as an out & back from Neso campground. I was expecting this to be sort of easy, but the trail had some sections that were steep and rough requiring considerable scrambling. Nevertheless we had excellent clear sunny September weather with almost no winds. The section of trail between north and south summits is super nice knife-edge. I was thankful for lack of winds in one spot which passes close to edge of 2000' foot drop off overlooking Nesowadnahunk Valley. Summit ledges of south peak offer commanding views of Brothers and Katahdin ranges and everywhere and are definitely worthy of being on Fifty Finest List. Do this mountain on a nice weather day. |
