Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: All brooks are bridged or easily crossed.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Part of Dryad Falls trail has recently been brushed. Where the trim ended I was waist deep in hobble bush. Some brushing has also been done on upper Peabody Brook trail. Both trails need more brushing, but thanks to whoever did the work. Also, upper Dryad Falls trail has some spill-over from current logging operations, with a few trees across the path above the falls.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Met no dogs today. Or hikers.
Bugs
Bugs: A few bugs dancing in sunshine at Dream Lake.

Comments
Comments: There is a major ongoing logging operation which affects upper Austin Brk and lower Dyrad Falls trails. On Austin Brk trail, just past the bridge over Dryad brook, I passed an operator about to begin limbing & stacking logs. If you are familiar with the trails, the path up to Dryad Falls trail is not hard to follow. But part way upslope the trail is being used for logging again - all the way up to the side path to the falls. The old road trail has a new look, re-opened as a busy skidder road. There are no new detours, but the trail has been cleared out and looks quite different. On my way up I heard a skidder coming down, so I stepped well off the path and watched as an operator hauled a load of trees down the trail. Quite a show! The two operators working the section were friendly, but they need to be given plenty of room. Otherwise, my hike up was uneventful.
