| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Easy. I arrived at South Pond Recreation Area at 9:30 and left around 3. Gate was open and there were other cars in in the parking lot. |
| Surface Conditions: |
Wet Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Leaves - Significant/Slippery |
| Recommended Equipment: |
| Water Crossing Notes: |
All four (five?) water crossings are relatively easy to rock hop. |
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Some brushing has been done recently on the upper trail (thank you). I like the remote, untouched, feel of this trail, but others might prefer more cutting back. |
| Dog-Related Notes: |
Other than being careful at the ledges on top, this would be a great trail for dogs. Didn’t see any though. |
| Bugs: |
None. |

Very remote feel. I only saw 2 other people. If you’re hiking over the next few weeks, be aware that the fallen leaves not only make the trail tricky to follow in certain areas, but they hide some soul-sucking mud as well. 😎. The Devil’s Hopyard was fascinating, even though I did expect to be taken into the underworld at any second. |
