Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Happy Thanksgiving! As of yesterday, 24 November, the gate was still open! (As were the gates to Galehead and Garfield.) Beware, there's a dusting of snow on the roadway, potentially making it greasy. Given that they're federal employees, I'd hope the forest service guys leave it that way for the weekend. Get it while the getting's good!

Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: The Little River ain't so little at the moment. It's not quite at the point of being outright dangerous, but at the same time, it's ice-cold, moving as quickly as ever, and there isn't an unbroken line of dry stepping stones that you'll easily navigate. The only easy crossing I found involved minor submersion of my boots -- hooray for Gore Tex. Doable, but you'll want waterproof boots and certainly trekking poles for stability.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Trail's in good shape. No blow-downs of consequence, apart from one small one that's easily walked around.

Comments
Comments: Wow, what a difference a week made. Cold temps kept things freezing. Mud was minimal, slush was non-existent. Up above about 42-44 hundred feet, the snow got deeper and drifty. It's a very dry snow that's very easily blown around. Right now, it's not at all of any depth that will require snowshoes, and inside the trees, it's not drifting much at all. Views yesterday were limited only by the curve of the earth, and whatever big hunk of rock got in the way. Forgetting that crossing of the river, it was a hell of a day to be outside on the trail.

Pictures and a trip report are on my blog as usual.
