| Comments: |
Full snow coverage on the trails, with minor exception. Maybe 6" of snow at the summit with some minor drifting, obviously much less at lower elevation. All things considered, conditions are really pretty good for late fall.
Black Pond bushwhack was well trafficked and easy to follow, deviating from the established herd path in just a few spots.
Looked like others before me had been going up the Owl's Head slide. I made first mark in the fresh snow on the Brutus bushwhack, meandered a bit for sure, but managed to connect the dots between the top and the bottom.
I put my micros on before the last water crossing and kept them on for the steep climb to the summit. No need for snow shoes at present.
I only encountered 3 other hikers all day. Only 6 cars in the parking lot at the end of the day. |
