Comments
Comments: This route was easy to moderate, nothing technical or overly steep. A fair amount of snow compared to surrounding towns due to elevation. We wore hillsound microspikes from start to finish. Water crossing were very shallow and easily navigated. Apx 4 - 8 inches of fresh snow from the trailhead to the junction of Carriage Road / South Summit. The trails were well traveled and snow was hard pack. The south summit had apx 8 - 10 inches with drifts well over a foot. High winds had blown most of the snow off the Carriage Road Trail / ridge to summit. Trails were relatively empty for a Sunday. We were the only car in the lot and saw only a couple of hikers all day. The summit was frigid and exteamly windy but absolutely beautiful! I'm looking forward to doing this one again!
