Comments
Comments: Alternate approach, but very difficult to follow with leaves on the ground.

Trail initially starts as a woods road, then turns right onto a herd path parallel to a fence. I think at one point it soon crossed a beaver pond (I crossed on the dam on the way back without issue), but now it's flagged to keep going near a fence, then through the woods and back to a woods road. From this approach, it looks like it goes straight into a pasture, but it actually turns right onto the woods road, then goes left through a stonewall, onto another woods road.

It peels off this woods road, then is a bit misleading as blazes dead end at a marsh view, while the trail is below (crossing a brook). Very vague in places thereafter, eventually crossing a stone wall, then climbing onto a snowmobile corridor (sign). Snowmobile corridor/carriage road splits; left goes to the north viewpoint, while right goes to the summit communications tower.

Carye Trail was mostly snow free. Slippery leaves once climbing Locke's proper. The summit area was icy from packed snow melting; I did not need traction late this afternoon, but one may need it on the main loop.

Support liberty.
