Comments
Comments: A blustery day from start to finish for these peaks. As the Irish blessing goes... the wind was luckily at my back as i headed up the now signed ski trails for non operating uphill travel. as mentioned earlier a few more signs may be helpful. i think i strayed by mistake just once.Bareboots until the ski patrol shack near the summit than micros until just before the Camp Dodge Cutoff. There is substantial blue ice from D-A. At one point i slid down a stretch while coincidentally Staying Alive" was playing on the headset.Descending A had ice as well but no issues with sharp spikes. Snowshoes along for the ride today as i wasnt quite sure what to expect if i ended up on the Carters. Between Carter Dome and Zeta Pass did have heavy drifting and with the next storm id highly recommend snowshoes. Just before the summit cairn of Carter Dome was evidence of what appeared to be a Moose that recently bedded down. With the heavy winds even on the Dome i didnt stay up there long enough to see him.
