If you're planning to do this for the first/only time, it is probably best to wait.
The main parking lot is closed, so only the lower lot is available. Considering both fill to capacity, this could be an issue.
The section of trail with the bridge is closed/roped off (bridge closed). As a result, hikers are directed to use the snowmobile trail as a bypass (probably adds a tenth or two).
The fire tower has a chain across the stairway and is signed as closed for the winter. I've never seen this before. Without the tower, there is a directional view from adjacent to the cabin.
The trails were sloppy this afternoon (temps in the mid-30s), following the AM rain and freezing rain. The inch or two of snow is now slush, as is any residual ice. I think there's another rain event (with temperatures supposedly in the 40s) overnight, which could finish off some of the slush/ice. If it gets near/below freezing, I would recommend bringing old Microspikes.
