Myself and "Free Love" and "Stream Queen" headed north from RI for a quick "winter: hike. This was their first winter hikes. Micro spikes were a must. Running water in the open spots of the trail it was a little mushy on some of the ice. We saw a few people coming down sliding all over the place grabbing trees along the way to prevent them from falling down. There was a big fresh blowdown just below the summit easy to go around either left or right. Had a great PB&J at the top.. Sun was shining wind was not an issue. Views were terrific. Mount Washington was easily visible. Ate a great meal at Black Mountain Burger Company. Traffic was light headed south back to the flatlands! Can't wait for the streams to freeze and more snow on the ground! |
