Old Bemis trail is apparently getting some maintenance evidenced by saw cuts. Very few blowdowns until reaching the ridge and turning west toward the summit-though thick, they were short lived.
Short whack from tower to actual summit was quite thick. Interesting following the old telegraph wire; actually found a couple of old poles with insulators along the way. The pile of old cement bags just south of the tower site sparked a little speculation until we realized what we were looking at-the bags having long ago rotted away, leaving a crumbly, marble colored pile of "rock". |
