Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: As of monday the first gate was open, but the road is not treated and is a sheet of hard ice. we made it up to the second gate in a subaru however it was at times dicey. I had to drive with half of the care on the side of the ice sheet to keep traction, anytime this was possible I drifted a bit. Do not attempt unless you go insanely slow and have four wheel drive. Otherwise park at the first gate.

Comments
Comments: Gorge Brook Trail up and down, did the ravine bypass to the trail on the way in and did the road walk on the way out. .8 added each direction if you park at the second gate, about 1.8 each way if you park at the first gate off of the road.

Two of us wore microspikes the whole way and they were fine as of Monday. Do not attempt with no traction! Even the road where you park is a sheet of ice and I was slipping as soon as I stepped out of the car. Trail up to summit had a bit of snow But didn't require anything else. Beautiful day, not too cold, only bitter on the summit. Pack your layers for sure.

Saw a frozen bear print about half way through the trail.
