Comments
Comments: Great day for this hike with little to no wind and good visibility. Good 360 degree views of Bonds and Prezies on one side and the Green Mountains in Vermont in the distance on the other. I thought Washington had less snow on it than when I saw it on Monday. I put on kahtoolas and left them on for the entire hike of packed snow, ice and bare rock. There were some significant ice flows and stretches of bare rock where the sun had hit OBP about 1/2 to 1 mile below the hut. The trek up to Lafayette was a mix of ice and bare rock and the same across the ridge. Mostly but not totally packed snow on the trail from Haystack to the LS trail junction but it was easily travelled. The trails from the LS junction up the Liberty and over to Flume were the best of the trek, nice packed snow. Again greats views although the winds picked up a bit. LS trail was a mix of packed snow, ice, wet and streaming trail and the bike path was packed snow. If you read this far, this all changes with tonight's weather coming in.
