First Day of Winter
Franconia Ridge Loop
Franconia Ridge
Windy and crisp just a smidge
Colder than the fridge
Spikes on at the lot
Falling waters frozen plot
To slip quite a lot
Dusted with fresh snow
And loose rocks moving below
Take careful steps slow
Crossing the River
Won’t make you have a quiver
Rock steps deliver
Steep trail nicely packed
Footprints of those before tracked
Cairns neatly stacked
In the alpine zone
Bare rocks with snow windblown
Leaves the plants alone |
