Hit the trail late to accommodate the Winter Season start at 11am. Socked in summits from the parking lot. Followed the steep Kinsman ridge Trail up, slow and steady grinder. Gorgeous day to hike, trail in great condition. Wore Hillsounds for the entire day, for me personally they were a must. Lots of ice on the steeps. Snow is shallow enough that snowshoes really aren't feasible yet. Clouds burned off by the time we got to the summit loop, stunning views of the notch and Franconia Ridge across the way. Split a turkey wrap in the summit building (very quiet), and made our way down to drive home with views of alpenglow on the high peaks. Flawless day for the start of the winter 4k season.
Saw 3 other hikers all day, everyone was stoked. |
