Most seem to be walking the road versus the new by-pass trail so I followed suit - snow is minimal depth. Gorge Brook Trail is well packed all the way to tree line when it becomes boney to the top. Depth off trail varied maybe 3-6 inches. Since the conditions were so good I took Gorge Brook Trail both up and down. I wore Hillsound Trail Crampons round trip and was pleased.
I had the summit to myself for a bit when I was joined by one other coming from Glencliff. Just a bit of a breeze but skies were grey limiting distant views. It was a quiet day here as I only passed nine others on Gorge Brook Trail. Given the conditions I was expecting more.
By the way: IF you or your pet really HAVE to pee next to the trail, please do everyone a favor and cover it. "I'm dreaming of a yellow Christmas" said no one...ever. Thank you :) |
