Comments: A FINE day in the forest! Total snowglobe day. Light snow, no wind, balmy temps. Today Beef and I kicked off our Winter WMNF Tour entitled "NO SPIKES NATION" - with special guest Benjamin and the Willey Range Band, DJ O$car Rosebrook, and C. W. McCall. Bareboot car to car. Also, the MVP today is Mrs. Beefman who shuttled us the 0.3 down to crawford path. Could not have done it with out ya! Crawford Path as one would summise is a hard packed drag strip. Still needs more snow for it to be a completely mindless sidewalk to treeline. From Webster Cliff Junction to the summit of Ike, its american chop suey. Borderline snowshoe use in here, but the amount of effort involved at this time really negates wearing them. It's firm as of today and neither of us where parasitic post holers. Cairn to cairn vis up at 4600 feet, commanding views of the inside of a golf ball. I pointed out the monel summit rivet to Beef, as he had never seen it! From WC junction to Pierce was fine, boney, no snowshoes needed. From Pierce to Mitzpah and again to Jackson, snowshoe use is superflous at this point, as stated before, we even bare booted up to the summit from this side. Firm enough base. We rocketed this section. It would have been easier with spikes but we had come so far. We also dropped off the ledge heading to 302, passing a guy in full 12 points, which was a funny juxtaposition as we boot skiied down. Our spikes where limp wind chimes. This gridded out the trio for me, and got Beef 2 for G2 and 1 for G3 (don't tell the Mrs about #3 though) 50 left!
