Completely socked in and a bit drizzly. Got curious so jumped on the powerline cut soon after I started up the Winslow Trail (where trail crosses it) - I saw snowshoe tracks and followed them. Someone clearly snowshoed up until the steep rocky section and then snowboarded down - OUCH - very bony - must have been rough!!! At the really steep/rocky section, things are a bit ice floe-ey. I had to take it very slow - at least 1 large downed tree pulling on wires. Maybe around 2600' the powerline cut ended - ? I guess I was just assuming it would go to the summit? Well then I was expecting some kind of trail corridor to the summit but there wasn't anything. Bushwhacked up picking left when things got too thick. Eventually popped out on Winslow Trail just below 2800'. Got pretty wet from water coming off trees.
Used snowshoes entire route - most people were on microspikes. Only a couple places too bony for snowshoes over the roots on the Barlow Trail descent. Fun afternoon! |
