Comments
Comments: Mild temps (above freezing); conditions were great for light traction along Nineteen Mile Brook trail until Wildcat Ridge trail intersection. Wildcat Ridge trail was sticky ‘mashed potato’ snow, sticking to micro spikes. Also very slick on top of icy steep sections. We decided to abort plans to continue on to Wildcat D given conditions. We’d decided not to carry snowshoes given recent reports and minimal snowfall, and they wouldn’t have been useful.

Nineteen Mile Brook trail is very gradual. The ascent to Wildcat A on the Ridge trail/AT is VERY steep in sections, so conditions make a huge difference. We actually found the ascent more challenging in the sticky/slick snow conditions while the descent down the steep sections felt much more doable.

All in all a fantastic hike and great way to ring in 2022!
