long pond road closed. hike in until you get to the logging operation. at first landing yard, stay on new dirt road to the left. as you go up road, start looking right and on a steep bank, you will see yellow mark where you can pick up original trail. trail starts out in beech and maple forest, then dense fir. when it breaks out into some ledge, you will see a beautiful view on moosilauke and a rock seating area. to get to the peak, continue on and keep and eye for a 3 ft boulder on trail with an aqua green mark on it. the trail keeps going straight, but if you want to go to summit, will need to take a right. small marks scribed into rocks will direct you. easy enough to find. best lunch spot is a rock seating area. total time with long lunch was 4 hours |
