Comments
Comments: I have hiked this a couple of times in the winter and found it icier today than ever before. Getting up Avalon was tricky in spots, and I wish I had brought full crampons (was able to do it with microspikes, but it was a challenge). No real need for snowshoes, though there was a lot of snow drifts between Field and Wiley. Saw one Grey Jay at the top of Tom- love those little buggers. Overall, great hike (do not skip Avalon- it has such an amazing view).
