 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
There's a short incline going into the parking lot and the lot is not plowed to the ground, so this could make for a slippery situation. It was fine today as everything was packed down. |
|
 | Surface Conditions: |
Snow - Packed Powder/Loose Granular, Snow - Drifts, Snow/Ice - Postholes |
|
 | Recommended Equipment: |
Snowshoes, Light Traction |
|
 | Water Crossing Notes: |
I went up Sandwich Mountain and that first crossing of Drakes Brook was a little dicey. Definitely frozen enough to form a bridge, but the bridge is not consistent so take care when crossing. Crossings on the descent on Drakes Brook Trail were fine. Again, a few places that require care but nothing outrageous. |

 | Comments: |
No views today, but the hike was really nice. First water crossing was, as I wrote above, a little tricky but not the end of the world. I had snowshoes with me but used spikes the whole way. There was some drifting at the very top of Sandwich Dome (maybe the last tenth of a mile) and snowshoes could be useful there but otherwise unnecessary (until the next snowfall). |
