Trails
Trails: Sandwich Mountain Trail, Jennings Peak Spur, Drakes Brook Trail
Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Thursday, January 13, 2022
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: There's a short incline going into the parking lot and the lot is not plowed to the ground, so this could make for a slippery situation. It was fine today as everything was packed down.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Snow - Packed Powder/Loose Granular, Snow - Drifts, Snow/Ice - Postholes
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment: Snowshoes, Light Traction
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: I went up Sandwich Mountain and that first crossing of Drakes Brook was a little dicey. Definitely frozen enough to form a bridge, but the bridge is not consistent so take care when crossing. Crossings on the descent on Drakes Brook Trail were fine. Again, a few places that require care but nothing outrageous.

Lost and Found: A yaktrak and a pole were near two different signs in the parking area.

Comments
Comments: No views today, but the hike was really nice. First water crossing was, as I wrote above, a little tricky but not the end of the world. I had snowshoes with me but used spikes the whole way. There was some drifting at the very top of Sandwich Dome (maybe the last tenth of a mile) and snowshoes could be useful there but otherwise unnecessary (until the next snowfall).
