 | Comments: |
North to South traverse. Zealand road was well packed, couple inches of slippery new snow started around the summer Z trailhead. I put the snowshoes on above the hut after water crossings but certainly could have put them on earlier. 8-12 inches of fluffy new snow, plus some good knee/thigh deep drifted sections, throughout Twinway and partway down Bondcliff trail into the woods. Followed a couple breaking trail in front of me almost to Guyot (thank you!!), so there is a nice track started from the 3 of us across the traverse but definitely still soft trail. I took the ‘shoes off for the rocky blown-off Bondcliff ascent and put them back on below the big step. Others had bare-booted up from Lincoln woods to Mt Bond, and a couple guys were headed to Guyot campsite so that might be tracked out (without snowshoes). More snow in the forecast, time to bring the snowshoes! |
