Thank you, thank you, thank you to the folks who hiked this yesterday and wore snowshoes!
Old Mountain Road is starting to get a good packed powder snowshoe track. Still way too soft to Microspike without destroying the footbed for everyone else. If you insist on Microspikes, check out Old Bridle Path on West Rattlesnake instead.
Crawford Ridgepole was mostly drifted over from the winds last night. Snowshoes were a must. Noted snowshoe tracks heading northbound, but not much on the other side of Old Mountain Road.
Chilly morning with temperatures in the single digits, but not quite as cold as forecast. Nice sunrise over the frozen lake with beautiful alpenglow on the undisturbed snow at the summit. |
