 | Comments: |
I was the first on the trail since Monday's storm. About six inches of powder over packed snow at the start. Higher drifts within a quarter mile of the summit. Although I brought spikes and snowshoes, I was able to "bare boot it" all the way to the top. Of course, conditions can change quickly. You should at least bring spikes to be safe.
Ascent was a bit slow due to inadequate or obscured blazes. The view from the ledges on Owl's Head is stunning. Well worth the trouble on a clear day.
Descent was easier. Generally good footing and I was able to just followed my tracks in reverse. |
