Broke trail from the intersection of Back 80 and the Allieway ski trail all the way to Firescrew in 2-3 feet of snow. Doesn’t look like anyone had been that way all winter. Was going to go down Clark but a nice couple warned us it wasn’t broken out so we just went down Manning which was actually fine.
Mostly well-marked but there were some spots where we were breaking trail and there was a long gap between blazes that threw us for a loop. In summer or with regular travel, it’s not likely an issue.
The snow is still wicked soft despite the traffic, especially on the steeper parts. Manning is pack pretty solid down low.
Saw tons of moose, coyote, bobcat, hare, and other tracks along Back 80. Actually found a moose bed! That was cool to see and the dog loved sniffing it (she’s part hound). |
