Comments
Comments: A great day for these peaks despite the cold temps. Barebooted to herdpath than snowshoes for entire hike.A nice track has been established with a couple of inches fresh powder. Upper levels of North Twin trail despite a nice base are are filled with postholes. with fresh powder and traveling over today trail is smoother than i found it. Skies cleared revealing a nearly bluebird sky starting at N Twin Viewpoint. Between N/S Twin trail was heavily drifted over but was quite supportive for the most part. Frost trail/GRT/GRT have seen much more activity and was a pleasure to snowshoe on. If Twins/Galehead are needed for January this may be the time to hike them before the storm. It was excellent chatting and hiking a short distance with three other hikers this morning as well as briefly chatting with two others on the cross country ski trail. Highly recommend snowshoes for any of the Peaks hiked today-trails currently are not packed enough for micros
