Comments
Comments: Absolutely perfect conditions before the coming storm. The trail was packed enough to use spikes for the first two miles - roughly to the Sandwich Wilderness Range sign. From there the climbing starts and snowshoes were a much better choice. I finally got to break in some new Atlas Helium-MTNs. The lift bar and crank bindings are awesome!
The clouds were far enough away that views were good from North Tripyramid. The trek down to the Sabbaday Brook Trail intersection was well packed, but Sabbaday Brook hasn't been touched in a long, long time. I don't envy whoever breaks it out in the next few days. Snowshoes stayed on for the ascent to Middle Tripyramid but quickly came off for the entire trip back down.
The two miles below North Tripyramid made for some outstanding butt sledding. There should be a nice solid base to work with under the coming snow.
