Comments
Comments: Day 1 - on return from Hall Ponds Mt., we started bw in drainage that goes to Atwood Pond. Our route took us through wide open hardwoods SSW in drainage. At top of drainage turned S, staying on W side of bumps always in wide open hardwoods. Continued S until 2250' where we turned SE to ridge - entered open softwoods that got scratchy, tight and potentially sprucy for a few minutes before opening up again at ridge top reached at 2300'. Followed ridge SSW, in open softwoods, to 2400' bump located NW of East Weetamoo. Turned back here with intent to return tomorrow.
Day 2 - Flew up previous day's bw track that had thoroughly consolidated. From 2400' bump, headed S then SE in direction of East Weetamoo. Woods conditions immediately deteriorated to become hellishly thick and potentially sprucy (I would not want to be here in unconsolidated conditions) until final climb(short, steep pitch) to summit. At base of climb, encountered faint snowshoe tracks, coming from SW, leading to all the multiple summit contenders on a summit of wide open woods - no jar found.
Followed our tracks back to 2400' bump. From here bw SW in wide open hardwoods. At 2200' encountered faint snowshoe tracks coming from S. Followed tracks through open soft woods, with a short steep pitch, to recognized Weetamoo summit - no jar found. Followed tracks back to road and to vehicle.
Surface conditions - ideal - 0'-5" powder on a supportive base.
Grades - mostly easy, some moderate, a couple of short, steep pitches.
Woods - predominantly wide open hardwoods, some open softwoods, thick spots as mentioned above.
