Fully tracked out now. There was a disturbing number of people without snowshoes who were busy tearing up the trail. Are we going to have to implement the Adirondack law about wearing snowshoes? Sheesh.
Anyways, the Crawford Path to Pierce is packed pretty solid, but still soft enough that people without snowshoes were leaving substantial holes. My day got a lot easier on Pierce when a total of three other people showed up who had come from Jackson. I thanked them for the trail then added a fourth set of snowshoes to the track. Between the two peaks there is plenty of snow and it is still quite soft but solid enough with snowshoes. It's actually a really pleasant section right now! Descent from Jackson to Crawford Notch is solidly packed out as well. |
